Opened Toes started with a simple thought: every time I paint my toenails, I somehow get nail polish everywhere. I wondered what the most ridiculous solution would be—and landed on opening up my toes instead. Made with oil pastel, the bold colors and layered strokes lean into the strange, tactile nature of the image. I hope this piece sparks a little curiosity around beauty, convenience, and desire.
